About Clark
While others would tend to disagree, I like to think of myself as less of a social liberal and more of a Constitutionalist. What that means is that I support the Constitution: I believe in equality, and therefore I support gay marriage (note: I am using the legal definition of marriage), but I don't support any action to force churches to wed homosexuals. When it comes to abortion, I lean towards the pro-choice end of the spectrum for a host of reasons. I support class-based affirmative action to an extent, and to some degree I oppose race-based and other forms of affirmative action.
As far as the economy is concerned, I consider myself to be supportive of a capitalistic approach, but I am very pro-worker. I dislike price-gouging and monopolistic practices, but who doesn't? I support minimum wage and tend to encourage worker benefits. I'm pro-free trade and anti-protectionism. I like the environment. I'm greatly put off by CEOs giving themselves $100 million raises while taking away worker benefits in order to throw a "Super Sweet 16" party for their respective daughters, but then again, who isn't? I also hate conspicuous consumption.
With regard to foreign policy, I am very cynical, due to what I have witnessed. I strongly opposed the war in Iraq a long time ago. The results and watching 24 have only made me more doubtful of the integrity of the government and the power of the citizenry. Philosophically I embrace an attitude supporting democracy but not imposing it. Where people are being oppressed I believe the US should offer a hand, but if it is not taken, this hand should be withdrawn. Ideally the world would be perfect and everyone would get along, but people must have a burning desire for change in order to be helped. Otherwise, any efforts made to help them can easily go severely wrong.
One important note: Please don't take me as a liberal extremist. The main difference between myself and others is that I tend to show more of a cynical perspective towards the government and business.

I believe that you have been unduly influenced by the present Republican Administation regarding your conception of the government of the United States. This current Administration is neither Republican or American. It is simply a group of greedy, corrupt and ignorant people who have taken advantage of the preoccupied American public that is working so hard to maintain a superior materialistic standard of living that they have overlooked the morality and responsibilities of our Christian/Democratic way of life. As you grow and develope the Spiritual aspect of life, you will see that that our Christian/Democratic form of Government is the best method currently available to allow for personal freedom for all.
